Directors Training Programme 2024

Professional Development

Overview

Our newly revamped Directors Training Programme provides Company Directors with the tools they need to understand the roles and responsibilities of being a director and managing the associated risks and liabilities. We’ll look at principles of corporate governance to set the overall framework and discuss practical examples, with interaction encouraged throughout the programme.

This programme will enable participants to appreciate the role of Company Directors by reviewing what makes a director “fit and proper”. This will cover directors’ duties, powers and liabilities as well as look at what constitutes “offshore” and a brief introduction to economic substance to enable an understanding of the extra tensions that arise when operating offshore.

It will also equip participants to assess the adequacy of their organisation’s existing risk management controls and practices objectively and to make enhancements as appropriate. Finally, we will look at the role of the Board and its Committees and look at boardroom best practice.

Interactive learning

This programme consists of four 2-hour training sessions delivered by our expert trainer Heather-Anne Hubbell, who encourages you to raise questions and will take you through practical examples to bring these subjects to life. You will be expected to respond to questions and provide answers to concepts as well as considering current events and how they shape the role of a director.
